A report by the Daily Star has claimed that Birmingham City offered Arsenal's Jack Wilshere a massive £90k a week to join them during the summer transfer window.

The England international has struggled for game time at the Emirates and looks set to see his time with the Gunners end sooner rather than later, however, he remains with the club following his failure to secure a move away over the summer.

The news emerging though that the Blues were willing to offer such a huge sum though will send shock-waves through the Championship, with Birmingham adding 13 players anyway during the transfer window as Harry Redknapp looks to guide them to promotion this term.

Arsenal man Wilshere spent last season out on loan with Bournemouth, where he impressed when given the chance to show what he could do under Eddie Howe. A move into the Championship with Redknapp could well have been the ideal situation for Wilshere to get his career back on track.

With no loan window though now in place in the EFL, it looks like Redknapp and the Blues will have to wait until January if they want to sign the midfielder.

Birmingham fans, what do you think to this? Would it have been too much to pay for Wilshere? Let us know your thoughts!
