Sheffield Wednesday host Aston Villa today in what is a massive fixture in the Sky Bet Championship, a fixture which for many years was a regular Premier League showing.

Both clubs though are battling for different things now though, with Villa chasing a return to the top flight while the Owls are looking over their shoulders and hoping to not get sucked into a relegation dogfight in the final few months of the campaign.

Today's meeting would normally be a spectacle involving plenty of top players on show, and despite their still being an array of ability on display, a report in the Birmingham Mail has revealed the staggering extent to which Wednesday are struggling with injury.

No fewer than 16 players are set to miss out for the home side, including the likes of Gary Hooper, Barry Bannan, and Kieran Lee, all players who would walk into the majority of eleven's in the Championship.

Other key men such as Sam Hutchinson and Fernando Forestieri are long term absentees, and it's no wonder the Owls have been dropping the points this term and not challenging in and around the top six.

Wednesday fell to defeat last time out with a loss at Millwall, and will be hoping to put that right with a win over the promotion chasing Villains this afternoon.
