Watford saw a late attempt to sign Tottenham defender Danny Rose fall short on deadline day last week, as per a report from Football Insider.

The Hornets have had a decent start to the season so far and though they have not been spectacular, they are at least earning results and keeping themselves up at the sharp end.

Indeed, a fine Joao Pedro goal on Friday night saw them take all three points against Derby County, hours after the transfer window for domestic moves had shut.

And, it appears, that earlier on in the day the men from Vicarage Road had tried to get a deal done for Rose to join on loan from Tottenham, but it never really got off of the ground.

The report alleges the full-back wasn't particularly interested in a move to the Hornets and he ended up staying put at Spurs.

The Verdict

There was plenty of speculation over Rose's future during the transfer window with him seemingly out of favour under Jose Mourinho at the moment.

However, no move came about and he remains at Tottenham for now, though it remains to be seen how long for.

Watford tried to get him, but it seems as though the deal never got to an advanced stage.
