Leeds United winger Jack Clarke is reportedly unhappy at the club due to his lack of first-team opportunities.

The teenager signed for Tottenham Hotspur in the summer but was sent back to Elland Road on a season-long loan and has only featured in two Carabao Cup games for the Whites this season.

Clarke’s exclusion from the Championship squad is likely due to the fact that Leeds signed six players on loan in the summer and due to EFL regulations can only include five of them in a matchday squad.

Marcelo Bielsa appears to feel the other five loan signings are more important to his league squad, meaning the 18-year-old has missed out so far.

Is this the WORST Leeds United XI from the last 15 years? We'll let YOU decide....

According to The Mirror, Clarke is unhappy with the current situation at the club and has accepted that he may have to depart Elland Road in January in search of first-team opportunities.

The report also suggests that due to the current situation Spurs are set to use the recall clause they inserted in the winger’s loan deal and bring him back in January.

Leeds have made a fantastic start to the season and are currently top of the Championship, with 16 points from seven games.

The Verdict

It is completely understandable that Clarke would be frustrated with the current situation at Leeds.

He returned to the club under the idea that he would have first-team opportunities to help him develop and at this point that is just not happening.

Pulling the plug on the loan deal in January and sending him somewhere else seems like the logical move for both the player and his parent club.

In Pablo Hernandez, Jack Harrison and Helder Costa, Leeds have got some strength in depth on the wing, so this doesn’t seem like the end of the world for them.

The concern would come if those players suffer injuries as the season wears on.
