Leeds United rejected offers for 20-year-old defender Bryce Hosannah during the January transfer window, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The right-back joined the club from Crystal Palace in 2017 and was given a new deal by the Whites a year later.

Hosannah is yet to represent the Whites senior side but he was one of just 16 players in Marcelo Bielsa's squad for the pre-season trip to Australia and was named in the matchday squad for the 2-0 win against Huddersfield Town back in December.

It is thought that his current contract is set to expire at Elland Road in the summer but the way the club has treated him this season would suggest he has a future in West Yorkshire.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, on top of the involving him with the first team, Leeds also rejected a number of offers for the 20-year-old in January.

Roger Hosannah, Bryce's father, explained: "I know there were some conversations Carlos Corberan had with more senior U23s players, Bryce included, regarding loans and Bryce had a number of approaches in January but Carlos had made it clear the club wanted him to stay.

"We tested the club, a Scottish Premier League team made a firm offer and Victor declined so his focus has just been on fighting for a place and trying to do his best for the 23s."

Leeds are top of the Championship as things stand but have had to put their promotion push on loan as the EFL season is suspended until at least the end of the month.

The Verdict

It is interesting to hear that Leeds rejected multiple offers for Hosannah in January and it suggests a number of things.

Firstly, they clearly feel his development will be better served if he remains at the club under Corberan.

Secondly, it seems to hint that the 20-year-old is someone they see having a long-term future at the club.

Could we see Hosannah signing a new deal or making his first-team debut at some point soon? We'll see.
