The scale of Aston Villa's financial crisis has been revealed in a report by the Telegraph, with sums of £50m being mentioned as the amount the club must raise this summer in player sales to stave off any sort of financial meltdown.

Things have taken a turn for the worse for Villa ever since losing out in the Championship playoff final, and they are under serious pressure to make sure they raise enough money - reportedly over the next two windows - to stave off any threat of falling foul of financial fair play regulations.

It represents another bitter blow for manager Steve Bruce, who will have to come to terms with the fact he will lose some of his star men, with the report tipping the likes of Jack Grealish and Jonathan Kodjia to lead the summer exodus at Villa Park.

Grealish is the big hope for the club in terms of a fee, with Villa chiefs valuing the young midfielder at a whopping £40m, however it remains to be seen if admiring clubs such as Spurs and Liverpool will be tempted to part ways with such a sum.

Villa fans, what do you make of this? Can you see the club rasing enough money? Let us know in the comments!
