Coventry and Millwall had enquiries for Cameron Humphreys rebuffed on Deadline Day, according to Football Insider.

Humphreys came through the ranks at Manchester City, making two first team appearances before moving to Belgium in 2019.

Zulte Waregum swooped for his signature, and the centre-half has since caught the eye in his 20 appearances for the club.

Quiz: Did each of these 18 ex-Coventry City players ever score a goal at the Ricoh Arena?

Football Insider have now revealed that on Deadline Day, both Millwall and Coventry enquired about the defender, but had approaches rebuffed.

Humphreys still has another year left on his deal in Belgium, and Waregum are keen to keep hold of their defender.

Both Coventry and Millwall failed to properly bolster their defensive options in January. Millwall brought in midfield pair Maikel Kieftenbeld and George Evans.

Coventry, meanwhile, brought in Josh Reid, Matty James and Fabio Tavares, and the Sky Blues have conceded 37 goals in 27 league games this term.

The Verdict

This would have been an interesting signing.

I remember when Humphreys came through the ranks at Manchester City and he was a rising star.

The defender has taken an interesting route since leaving the Etihad Stadium, and it's nice to see that he has settled in Belgium and is playing his best football.

He looks to be a really good defender who is good with the ball at his feet, and he would have fit right in at Coventry and Millwall.
