According to Record - via Sport Witness - West Bromwich Albion will now wait until the end of the English football season, whenever that proves to be, before paying the pre-agreed fee to make Matheus Pereira's stay at the club permanent.

Albion are in a position to make the Pereira deal permanent and, after an impressive loan spell at the club, you can see why Baggies fans will want to see their club complete such a move.

Given the current situation, though,  Albion have pushed back the date to seal the agreement and now it appears no announcement will be made until the end of this season.

When that date actually is, though, remains to be seen - though the intention remains for English football to resume the current season at some point in the summer.

The Verdict

Pereira has been one of Albion's best players with goals and assists coming frequently throughout the campaign from his attacking midfield role.

He's been a real find from Slaven Bilic and fans obviously want to see him stay put but there remains a bit of a waiting game needing to be played before any such deal is in place.

Albion fans will hope, though, that an agreement can be reached soon enough.
