Sheffield Wednesday have previously been linked with a move for free-agent Jazz Richards according to TEAMtalk.

Richards is without a club at this moment in time, after leaving Cardiff City in the summer of 2020, having made 57 appearances in total for the Bluebirds.

The 29-year-old has also previously been on the books with Fulham and Swansea City earlier in his career, and is a player in demand.

It was previously claimed that Sheffield Wednesday were rivalling the likes of Salford City, Fleetwood Town and MK Dons to the potential signing of the full-back.

But The Star have revealed that Sheffield Wednesday's reported interest in Richards is nothing more than rumours, with interest from other clubs having more concrete interest in landing his signature.

Sheffield Wednesday are currently sat bottom of the Championship table, and eight points adrift of safety after their opening seven matches of the season, having been deducted 12 points at the start of this year's campaign due to off-the-field problems.

Garry Monk's side are next in action in midweek, when they take on Rotherham United at the New York Stadium, in a match they'll be hoping to pick up a much-needed three points from.

The Verdict:

I think he could have been worth a punt for the Owls.

Competition for places is never a bad thing, and I think Richards could have been in contention to challenge for a spot in Garry Monk's starting XI.

I am surprised that no other Championship clubs are interested in signing the full-back though, as he's got a considerable amount of experience in the second-tier of English football.

It'll be interesting to see which club he ends up signing for.
