Tony Pulis was hoping to sign the Bosnian midfielder once more following his successful spell on Teeside last term, but saw the deal collapse at the last minute, with Birmingham Live now reporting the deal broke down due to a problem between the club and Besic's agent.

Everton boss Marco Silva broke the news of the issue, but the report has also revealed that the move could still happen, as Pulis looks to add Besic to his squad on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The Middlesbrough manager has described the midfielder as 'fantastic kid' and would clearly love to see the Everton man back in his squad the Riverside as he seeks to get Boro back into the Premier League.

Pulis endured a frustrating transfer deadline day, as he saw moves for Millwall duo Jed Wallace and Jack Saville come to nothing, while he also allowed striker Patrick Bamford to move on, although he did manager to sign up Jordan Hugill on a loan deal.

Any deal for Besic will clearly now require both agent and club to get on terms.
