Ross McCormack is training alone at Bodymoor Heath, with the Aston Villa forward still cast aside by Steve Bruce.

A report from the Birmingham Mail has confirmed that McCormack is in training with Villa, but taking part in sessions alone, with the 31-year-old no closer to working his way into first-team plans at Villa Park.

McCormack returned from Australia last month following the expiration of a loan deal at Melbourne City, but after failing to renegotiate a deal with the Australian outfit, who he scored 14 goals for, the Scot is back training with his parent-club.

However, first-team opportunities and a chance to impress Bruce are unlikely, with there still a possibility that McCormack could move on from Villa Park in the coming months, with a loan switch to the MLS a possibility.

Lewis Grabban’s arrival has pushed McCormack further out of the picture, with Villa challenging for automatic promotion in the Sky Bet Championship.

McCormack has made 24 appearances for Villa across all competitions, with the forward managing to score just three goals in claret and blue.

The Verdict

McCormack’s career has seriously declined since his move to Aston Villa, and it is looking like his time at Villa Park will be coming to an end soon.

A move to the MLS seems to be the only option for the striker, who otherwise will cut a lonely figure at Villa Park.

The next move in the 31-year-old’s career is certainly a key one.
