Report provides major update on Nottingham Forest’s future

Published

on

According to The Telegraph, reported via The Nottingham Post, Evangelos Marinakis is close to completing a takeover at Nottingham Forest.

Evangelos Marinakis has passed the Football League owners’ and director’s “fit and proper” test and is expected to purchase a 50 per cent stake in Nottingham Forest.

It is not confirmed who the other 50 per cent will go to as it is listed under “A.N. Other” but the report adds that it might not be Fawaz Al Hasawi.

Marinakis previously failed in an attempt to complete a takeover of Forest last summer after he faced criminal charges in Greece (which were later dropped) and then a consortium led by American businessman John Jay Moores also fell through around January time.

Nottingham Forest fans have regularly voiced their dissatisfaction with how they are run under controversial owner Fawaz Al Hasawi so this could be positive news for the Reds.

Nottingham Forest fans – what do you make of this? Would you like Marinakis to take over? Let us know in the comments below…
