A decision on Paul Heckingbottom’s future with Leeds United is expected to be made at the weekend or early next week.

There have been a number of reports that Andrea Radrizzani is ready to axe Heckingbottom already, despite only appointing the 40-year-old at Elland Road in February.

The Daily Star were the latest to report so yesterday, with Steve Bruce – Aston Villa’s boss - linked.

However, Leeds Live have delivered an update, confirming that Radrizzani’s thoughts are unclear, with a decision expected to be made in the coming week, when Heckingbottom returns from his family holiday.

Heckingbottom managed just four victories from 16 fixtures in charge last season, failing to resurrect Leeds’ play-off push and eventually guiding the Whites to 13th in the table.

The ex-Barnsley boss took charge of a post-season tour to Myanmar, before returning to LS11 for talks with the club.

Leeds Live have reported that those talks weren’t progressive. There were disagreements and difficult conversations, which is how things were left before Heckingbottom went on holiday.

The Verdict

It is extremely unclear whether Heckingbottom is going to be around at Elland Road next season, with very little clarity coming out of the club.

After such a disappointing year in the Championship, Leeds need to make sure that their planning for next season is perfect.

With so much uncertainty surrounding the head-coach, preparations will be hindered.

The Whites need to make a decision as soon as possible.
