Sheffield United want to complete the signing of Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson before he leaves for international duty in mid-June.

The 22-year-old enjoyed an impressive season-long loan at Bramall Lane during the current campaign, keeping a league-high 21 clean sheets to help Chris Wilder's side secure promotion back to the Premier League.

The Blades are keen to bring back Henderson for their first top-flight campaign in 12 years, and The Sheffield Star have reported that the club are keen to secure the 'keeper's services before he joins up with England's Under 21 side for their European Championship campaign in Italy, which begins on the 16th June.

Manchester United are also thought to be open to allowing Henderson to return to Bramall Lane for another season, after the 22-year-old made it clear that that was his preferred outcome for the current season.

Henderson, who has yet to make his senior debut for Manchester United, has one year remaining on his Old Trafford contract, which the Red Devils could look to extend before releasing him back to The Blades.

The verdict

You can see why Sheffield United want to get this done quickly.

The Blades have plenty to get sorted before they return to the top flight, and with this looking to be one of the easier deals to complete, they will be keen to get this sorted in order to allow them to make the changes that may take longer or be more difficult to confirm.
