The Championship season drew to a close yesterday as Sheffield United and Norwich earned their place in the Premier League.

At the bottom of the table, Rotherham, Ipswich and Bolton Wanderers saw their time in the second tier come to an end, and it was once again a breathtaking season of football in the Championship.

With the play-off games yet to come, everything is set up for a frantic finish to the campaign as Leeds, Derby, West Brom and Aston Villa will do battle for the final place in the top flight.

However, things could have been so different for a number of clubs, with a report from Transfermarkt published by the Hull Daily Mail showing just how important it has been for clubs at the top end of the table to be able to come back from losing positions.

Indeed, Leeds, Norwich and Villa sit in the top three of this particular stat, with Dean Smith's Villa side scoring a massive 29 points after conceding the first goal.

It is no surprise then that the Villans have indeed ended up sealing a top six spot, although things could have been so different had they not bounced back and won those points, with the report showing Villa would have been just five points above the relegation zone.

Norwich are no surprises to be right up there as they have consistently scored in the final ten minutes of games this term, while Marcelo Bielsa will be boosted by his Leeds team's numbers heading into two crucial games with Derby County.

The Verdict

This just shows how important it can be to have spirit and fight in the squad and be able to make something from losing positions.

Villa have been brilliant at this, while Leeds and Norwich are also fit teams who keep going to the end, and it shows.
