Norwich City have recently been linked with a move for Sheffield Wednesday forward, Jordan Rhodes according to TEAMtalk.

But the Eastern Daily Press have revealed that those reports are believed to be wide of the mark, and a move to Carrow Road isn't close to reaching any conclusion.

Rhodes spent last season on loan with the Canaries, as they went on to win promotion back into the Premier League under the guidance of Daniel Farke.

He made 36 league appearances for Norwich, scoring six goals in his time with the club, and we saw glimpses of his clinical form which Rhodes will be keen to build on heading into the new season.

It remains to be seen as to whether Norwich were interested in signing Rhodes on loan or on a permanent deal, but the Canaries are likely to be cautious with their final loan deal, as they're only permitted to take one more player on loan.

Farke's side have already signed Patrick Roberts on loan from Manchester City, which means that they're unlikely to be rushing into an immediate decision over their last loan signing.

Rhodes has been with Sheffield Wednesday since 2017, but has struggled to find regular game time at Hillsborough in recent years, which will certainly be frustrating for the Scotsman.

The Verdict:

He could be given a lifeline if Steve Bruce is to leave the club in favour of a move to Newcastle.

Rhodes could have been heading for the exit door at Hillsborough in the near future, but if Bruce is to leave, then a new manager will want to assess his squad before the new Championship season gets underway.

If the forward can recapture his best form, then he could be the man to fire Sheffield Wednesday into the Premier League.
