Stuart Dallas is edging his way back to fitness for Leeds United having missed the last month after fracturing his foot.

Leeds last had Dallas available on December 1, when they picked up a 1-0 victory over Sheffield United at Bramall Lane. However, it came at a cost, with confirmation following from the club that the versatile Northern Irishman had fractured his foot.

Now, the Yorkshire Evening Post have provided an update, confirming that Dallas is ‘almost fit’ following his fractured foot.

That injury initially left Leeds short of options at right-back, with Jamie Shackleton forced to deputise as Luke Ayling and Gaetano Berardi were also sidelined.

However, Ayling has since returned and featured in Leeds’ four-match festive period as well as the FA Cup defeat to Queens Park Rangers on Sunday afternoon.

There’s no indication of whether Dallas will be available to face Derby County on Friday evening, but Liam Cooper may well be pushing for inclusion.

Cooper has been unavailable since the Sheffield United game with a knee injury, but he featured last night for Leeds’ under-23s, completing over an hour of the 3-1 victory over Hull City.

The Verdict

This is another boost for Leeds as Dallas brings a lot to Marcelo Bielsa’s squad.

The 27-year-old can feature on either wing and in the full-back roles, bringing excellent versatility to the Elland Road club.

Whether he makes this weekend remains to be seen, but he could well be back available in the near future.
