Derby County are in no hurry to finalise a decision on who will be in charge at Pride Park next season.

According to Sky Sports, the Rams aren’t in any rush to replace Gary Rowett, who recently became the new manager of Stoke City.

The Rams lost out to Fulham in the play-off semi-finals this season, and have a number of candidates to be their new head coach for next season.

Rowett, who took over at Derby County in March 2017, left the club after his unsuccessful play-off run as their sixth manager in three years.

Up to 20 managers names are in contention for the job as it stands, with Frank Lampard as one of the candidates, but Derby County will take their time in making their decision.

The Rams secured a spot in the play-offs on the final day of the regular Championship season, but eventual came out with a 2-1 aggregate loss to Slavisa Jokanovic’s side, who will face Aston Villa in the play-off final at Wembley this Saturday.

The Verdict

After Gary Rowett’s departure at Derby County, you do have to feel that some of their star players from last season’s impressive campaign could follow.

The Rams will need to be busy in this summer’s transfer market if they are to try and replicate, or improve, on what they achieved last season.

The quicker they finalise a new manager, the faster they can attract new talent to the club.
