Robbie Gotts could struggle to break into Marcelo Bielsa's Leeds United plans as they continue to strengthen their side.

That's the view of Leeds Live writer Alex Dicken who has been assessing the youngster's rise to prominence and what could be next for the midfielder.

Gotts has been regular feature in Bielsa's matchday squad but has made just one appearance so far - the FA Cup third round clash against Arsenal in January.

With the Whites on track to secure promotion it means that the West Yorkshire side will no doubt be looking to further strengthen their squad this summer, meaning that opportunities could be even more limited for the 20-year-old.

But that won't stop the boyhood Leeds United fan from working towards his ultimate dream of representing Leeds United on a regular basis.

Writing for Leeds Live, Dicken said: "The January signings of Ian Poveda and Jean-Kevin Augustin added depth to Bielsa’s squad which is likely to limit Gotts’ opportunities further.

"But his future looks bright and it seems the midfielder is desperate for his best years to come in the Premier League with his boyhood club."

Can you name these ex-Leeds United defenders?

The verdict

It could be a pivotal summer for Robbie Gotts.

A player of undoubted talent, it makes total sense that he wants to stick around at Elland Road in order to force his way into the first team fold.

However that could be easier said than done as the club face the possible challenge of plying their trade at a higher level.

It's unlikely that Gotts would be in the club's immediate plans and so perhaps it would be in his best interests to seek a loan move in the summer to get some game time and come back as a more experienced player.
