Huddersfield Town need money up-front when it comes to the sale of Karlan Grant to West Bromwich Albion.

The transfer window has ticked into its final week and if Huddersfield are to sell to West Brom, they have to meet the deadline on Friday 16th October.

So far, nothing has fallen into place for the Premier League side in their pursuit of Grant, but there’s still a chance the 23-year-old could move and Huddersfield seem open to doing a deal.

Quiz: Do Huddersfield Town and Leeds United have these 10 things in common?

However, as per Yorkshire Live, Huddersfield haven’t received an offer suitable from West Brom.

West Brom have failed to meet Huddersfield’s asking price or come up with a suitable structured deal. The top and bottom of it is that the Championship side are looking for a higher ‘up-front’ fee for Grant’s sale than what’s been offered so far.

Grant is Huddersfield’s most saleable asset. He’s been on the books at the John Smith’s Stadium for almost two years now and has been amongst the goals regularly.

Last year, Grant scored 19 times in the Championship for Huddersfield and registered a further four assists. Arguably, his goals helped keep the Terriers in the division after a tough adaptation period after relegation from the Premier League.

The Verdict

What’s been clear in this transfer saga is that Huddersfield will not be bullied by West Brom. They’ve got their valuation and they know how much money they need up-front.

Until that money is on the table, it doesn’t look like a deal will happen.

Whilst Town’s finances will be boosted by the sale, there’s no denying that it’s West Brom that need this to go through more.

Slaven Bilic has really drilled home that he wants Grant on board and to miss out on him would be devastating.

In that sense, you feel that West Brom will eventually put the money forward that Huddersfield are asking for.
