The future of Rangers goalkeeper Jak Alnwick remains up in the air heading into the summer transfer window.

The goalkeeper is currently on loan with League One side Blackpool, and the shot-stopper has gone on to become a regular in the Tangerines squad.

The 26-year-old has made 24 appearances for Blackpool this season, as they currently sit 13th in the third tier standings with nine matches remaining this season.

It has previously been reported by The Gazette that Alnwick's future is definitely away from Ibrox with Rangers though, with the shot-stopper being out-of-contract with Steven Gerrard's side at the end of this year's campaign.

Alnwick hasn't featured for Blackpool since Boxing Day in 2019, after picking up an injury against Accrington Stanley which has kept him sidelined ever since.

The Gazette have recently revealed that Alnwick's loan move from Rangers was set to become a permanent one in the January transfer window, but his injury in December ruled out any potential permanent move at the time.

The report also hints that any further talks over Alnwick's future at Bloomfield Road have been put on hold due to recent off-the-field events, which have brought fixtures across the UK to an abrupt halt.

The Verdict:

It'll be interesting to see if they want to sign him permanently at the end of the season.

It's no coincidence that Blackpool's impressive run of results during the first-half of the season was whilst Alnwick was in their starting XI.

Since his injury, the Tangerines have struggled to build on that momentum, much to the frustration of the club's supporters heading towards the conclusion of this year's campaign.

His future is definitely away from Rangers, and I wouldn't be surprised if Blackpool looked to make his loan spell a permanent move in the summer.
