Dundee United are willing to sell winger Louis Appere for around £2million, amid rumours linking him with Stoke City and Rangers, a report from Football Insider has claimed.

Having broken into the Terrors' senior side for the first time in his career during the current campaign, Appere has scored four goals and provided five assists in 26 league appearances to help Dundee United to top spot in the Scottish Championship, 14 points clear of second-placed Inverness.

Appere's contribution to that promotion push has seemingly caught the attention of a number of other sides, with recent reports linking both Stoke and Scottish giants Rangers with a move for the 21-year-old, and it now seems as though the price they would have to pay for such a deal has been confirmed.

According to the latest reports, it has now been revealed that Dundee United will demand around £2million for the winger when the transfer window reopens in the summer.

It is thought that the Scottish second-tier league leaders will be willing to sell Appere for that price, regardless of whether or not they win promotion to the top-flight this season.

As things stand, there are just over two years remaining on Appere's contract with Dundee United, securing his future at Tannadice Park until the end of the 2021/22 season.

The Verdict

This is an interesting one.

At £2million, Appere ought to be affordable for a club such as Stoke, and since they are not breaking the bank on him with that price, the financial risk of bringing in someone with no prior experience of the Championship is at least reduced.

However, given Appere's contract situation puts his current club in a strong position to negotiate any offers that come in for him, and the fact that Rangers are also interested, this could yet end up developing into a bidding war that sees one of these two sides potentially pay more than they expected to for the winger.
