The Lancashire Evening Post has confirmed that there has been no contact between Sunderland and Preston North End manager Simon Grayson in regards to filling their managerial hotseat.

Since it was announced that David Moyes was to leave Sunderland, Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes has been the clear favourite if the odds of the bookies are anything to go by.

However, Simon Grayson's odds have significantly fallen over the last few days, dropping from odds as high as 40/1 to just 7/4 with Sky Bet.

Despite the tumbling odds, the LEP understands that the Black Cats have made no contact with the Preston boss which will be a relief to any worrying North Enders.

Grayson has done an outstanding job at Deepdale, transforming them from a team sat in the bottom half of League One to last year challenging for a play-off spot in the Championship on one of the division's smallest budgets.

The appeal of a much larger budget at the Stadium of Light and a great opportunity of reaching the Premier League may entice the Preston boss, but for now, it looks like he is staying put.

Preston fans... How much of a relief is it to see that no contact has been made? Sunderland fans... Are you disappointed that your club haven't been in touch with Grayson? Could he take your side back to the Premier League? Have your say in the comments below!
