According to the Sheffield Star, David Brooks is set to return to Chris Wilder’s squad for this weekend’s clash between Sheffield United and Aston Villa in the Sky Bet Championship.

Brooks has been a shining light for the Blades during the opening months of the season, with the 20-year-old Welsh international making 21 appearances across all competitions, scoring two goals and adding a further three assists.

Wilder was unable to call on Brooks last weekend due to illness, but the youngster is set to return for this weekend’s clash with Aston Villa at Villa Park, where the Blades will be looking to end a miserable run of form and return to winning ways.

Sheffield United have lost four of their last five Championship fixtures, which has dealt Wilder’s side a huge blow in their race for automatic promotion, with the Blades now looking over their shoulders heading into this weekend’s fixtures, as a host of clubs close in on the top-six.

Wilder’s side have lost their last three, slipping up against Millwall, Bristol City and Preston North End, with their only point in the last five coming against the Championship’s basement club, Birmingham City.

The Verdict

Brooks’ return to the starting XI will be a boost for Sheffield United this weekend, with their trip to Aston Villa shaping up into a bigger contest than it already promised to be.

Wilder’s side are in a miserable run of form, but a positive result this weekend could provide the spark required to turn things around.

Brooks’ return will boost the Blades’ chance of picking up three points at Villa Park.
