Aston Villa have received no concrete bids for striker Jonathan Kodjia as yet despite reported interest from Angers.

That is, according to the Birmingham Mail, who claim that although there is interest in the 29-year-old Ivorian striker, there has yet to be anything in the form of an official approach for the former Bristol City man.

Kodjia has been in and out of the Villa XI this year mainly due to the form of young striker Tammy Abraham, with Dean Smith finding it hard to slot both the goal getters into his starting XI on a regular basis.

This has led to some in and around the club believing that Kodjia could be on his way out of Villa Park if an offer comes along, and although Angers are credited with an interest, they have yet to make an official move for the striker as it stands.

Villa are struggling to put together any sort of form at the moment and once again struggled this weekend as they were held to a 2-2 draw by Hull City following on from last weekend's 3-0 loss at Wigan.

The Verdict

Kodjia is a talent and a goalscorer but the form of Abraham has been to his detriment.

A move away might well work for the Ivorian but whether it benefits him in the long term is another question.

For Villa, a loan move is pointless, so I can only see Kodjia being moved on if a big money bid comes in.
