Leeds United have been alerted to the availability of David Stockdale this summer.

Birmingham City have reportedly made Stockdale available for transfer this summer, just 12 months after his arrival at St Andrew’s.

The Yorkshire Evening Post have been reporting that the goalkeeper is set to leave St Andrew’s this summer, also confirming that Stockdale’s availability has alerted Leeds, who are on the lookout for a new goalkeeper this summer.

Stockdale won promotion to the Premier League with Brighton and Hove Albion during the 2016/17 campaign, but departed the Amex Stadium last summer, signing a three-year deal with Birmingham.

Stockdale has featured regularly for the Blues in the Championship this season, with the 32-year-old making 36 league appearances, helping to guide Garry Monk’s side to safety during the closing stage of the season.

However, Monk, who has only been with Birmingham since March, looks set to offload the experienced keeper, with Leeds one club on alert, as they look to add another player to compete with Bailey Peacock-Farrell for a starting berth at Elland Road next season.

The Verdict

Despite a difficult year for Birmingham, it is hard to argue that Stockdale is a good Championship goalkeeper, particularly after such a successful and consistent spell with Brighton.

Leeds could do far worse that bringing the 32-year-old on board, as he would be the perfect mentor for Peacock-Farrell.

The interest from Elland Road shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone, particularly after Leeds' goalkeeping issues in the Championship.
