QPR’s Loic Remy has left for a season-long loan at Newcastle United and Adel Taarabt is set to join Fulham in a deal of the same nature.
Remy, QPR’s record £8million signing in January, is said to have had a medical yesterday at St James Park with the move finalized last night. It was reported in one gossip column that QPR wanted a £2million loan fee as well as paying his wages if the Magpies wanted to take him on loan. The 26-year old had turned down Newcastle in favour for QPR back in January and went on to score six goals for The Hoops last season.
Hoops manager Harry Redknapp said in a post-match interview after the win over Sheffield Wednesday that some players made it clear they didn’t want to play for Queens Park Rangers and were subsequently made to train away from the rest of the first team squad.
Adel Taarabt is having a medical today at Fulham. The move will reunite the midfielder with Martin Jol, the manager who signed the Moroccan as a teenager whilst at Tottenham. Taarabt made 150 appearances for the Hoops having initially join the club on loan in 2009 before making the move permanent in the August 2010. The 24-year old won the Championship player of the year during the 2010/11 season as QPR won the Championship under Neil Warnock.
