Brentford’s winning Championship run came to an abrupt end at Stoke City on Saturday – although the Bees were given a glimpse into the future late on thanks to young striker Marcus Forss.
Thomas Frank’s men arrived at the Bet365 on the back of two consecutive league victories and were slowly looking like the Brentford of last season that came within a whisker of promotion to the Premier League.
The West London outfit had followed up their comfortable win over Coventry last weekend with a 2-1 success at Sheffield Wednesday in midweek courtesy of another Ivan Toney brace.
However, Toney wasn’t able to replicate that kind of form in the Potteries as Frank’s side found themselves three goals down on the hour-mark and slumped to third defeat of the campaign already.
But another Bees striker was in goalscoring form – with 21-year-old Forss almost producing heroics to complete a comeback similar to West Ham’s at Tottenham last Sunday.
Firstly, Forss thumped home after a perfectly-timed through pass from Toney with 19 minutes remaining, before capitalising on a mistake from Harry Souttar to reduce the deficit even further deep in stoppage-time.
Forss has already scored three times in the Championship this season, but is yet to be rewarded with his first start. But some Brentford fans think that he deserves more minutes.

You played your part, you deserve a start as a front 2 with @ivantoney24
