Nottingham Forest could be looking to add players to their squad, according to Paul Taylor.

The Reds are facing a pivotal January transfer window after a disappointing first half of the season in which they've struggled to move away from the bottom end of the table.

Performances have not been good enough this term - particularly when you factor in the number of signings made during the summer transfer window.

As a result Chris Hughton is overseeing something of a shake-up in the Forest squad as he looks to reduce bloating in their first team squad while also targeting a couple of shrewd additions.

Nicholas Ioannou is one player who has already moved on having joined Greek side Aris on a loan deal until the end of the season.

While this deal is just the first of many outgoings for Forest, The Athletic reporter Paul Taylor has suggested that there are two spots now available in the first team squad for potential arrivals.

Speaking of the departure, Taylor said: "Importantly, it frees up a place in the squad for somebody else to be registered until the end of the season.

"By my reckoning, Forest now have two spaces free in 25 man squad.

"But still too many players under contract who aren’t in it. More trimming needed if possible."
