Reliable source delivers key Stoke City transfer update following 9-figure Burnley proposal

Burnley have not put in another bid for Nathan Collins, according to The Sun journalist Alan Nixon.

The Stoke City defender has established himself as a key first team player under Michael O’Neill and has made 47 appearances for the Potters so far.

At 20 years of age the centre-back is getting better and better but had his progress hampered this term after breaking his foot back in February, meaning that he missed the rest of the campaign.

Reports back in January suggested that Burnley were keen to secure a move for the talented defender, having numerous offers rejected for the player.

Fresh reports from TalkSPORT, via the Stoke Sentinel, have claimed that Nathan Collins has been the subject of a new £10million bid from the Premier League side, but according to Alan Nixon of The Sun, that’s not what he heard after the breakdown in talks earlier this year.

It remains to be seen whether Nathan Collins would be tempted by a move.

Stoke City endured a frustrating campaign this term after securing a mid-table position, and given the financial difficulties that they’re facing at the moment, it could mean that a promotion push is a bit too big of an ask.

That could pave the way for Burnley to make a move for the player, and with funds very much needed, it’s not out of the question that it’s a deal that could be revisited.

Are these 17 facts about Stoke City's club badge true or false?

The verdict

Nathan Collins certainly looks like a Premier League player in the making.

I’d question whether the 20-year-old is ready to make the step up to life in the top flight just yet, but it’s no surprise that Burnley are sniffing around.

A move for the 20-year-old could be a very shrewd addition for the future, and given Stoke’s financial predicament, I’d be surprised if they weren’t to consider making a move.

However it wouldn’t be a shock to see the Potters dig their heels in as they look for the biggest fee possible.
