Nottingham Forest enjoyed the busiest deadline day in the Championship, with a bevy of new arrivals to counter balance a host of departures from the City Ground.

One deal that didn't get done, however, was the signing of Hull City defender Michael Dawson, which would have seen him return to the club where he started his career.

The deal would have seen Dawson leave a club who are in danger of suffering the embarrassment of successive relegations and join one embarking on a new era under Aitor Karanka, who knows what it takes to get out of the second tier via the other end.

According to the latest update from Nottingham Post journalist Paul Taylor, Dawson will likely become a Forest player for the second time in the summer.

The Verdict

Dawson clearly has a deep connection with Forest, his first club, and Hull has been run so shambolically for a number of years now that not many people could blame him for wanting to move.

I'd be shocked if he signed a new deal at Hull, especially with the lingering possibility that doing so could see him become a League One player in May.
