Kyle Bartley is keen on a return to Leeds United, as the Whites continue to pursue the defender’s signature this summer.

The Yorkshire Evening Post revealed last month that the defender was Leeds’ top target ahead of the summer, as they look to put a disappointing 2017/18 campaign behind them.

The YEP’s Phil Hay has now revealed that Bartley wants a move to Leeds, but again stressed that any deal to bring the 26-year-old back to Elland Road would take some work.

Bartley spent a successful year on-loan at Elland Road under Garry Monk, featuring regularly at the heart of defence during the 2016/17 campaign.

Leeds challenged for the play-offs that year, but without the centre-back, struggled to replicate that level of form last season.

The Whites have now moved to bring Bartley back to LS11, although a deal could be difficult due to Swansea’s relegation to the Championship.

Bartley has never been a regular for the Welsh outfit, but their relegation could lead to the Swans clinging onto the defender, who has proved to be a consistent performer in the second-tier.

The Verdict

Leeds’ supporters are desperate to see Bartley return to Elland Road in the summer and his signing would be a major coup for the Whites.

Obviously Swansea’s relegation makes a deal difficult, but the player’s desire to return gives Leeds a major edge here.

Player power is everything in football, and Leeds will be encouraged to hear that Bartley is keen on returning to the club where he arguably played the best football of his career.
