Leeds United will be looking at a fee of over £10m to lure Matej Vydra out of Derby County this summer.

The Yorkshire Evening Post have revealed that Leeds are exploring the option of bringing Vydra on board this summer, as they look to reshape the squad that finished 13th last season.

Phil Hay has added further body to Leeds’ quest to sign Vydra, revealing on Twitter that the 26-year-old is going to cost over £10m to sign this summer.

Vydra was the Championship’s top scorer last season, scoring 21 goals for Derby, who finished sixth in the table and reached the play-offs.

The Czech Republic international has two years remaining on his deal at Derby.

Vydra isn’t the only striker Leeds are looking at this summer, with the Whites also exploring the possibility of bringing Abel Hernandez on board when he departs Hull City this summer.

Hernandez, 27, will be departing the KCOM Stadium as a free agent, ending a four-year association with the Tigers, which has seen him play in both the Premier League and Championship.

The Uruguayan scored eight goals in 10 appearances last season in the Championship.

The Verdict

It’s a really big dilemma facing Leeds this summer, as they weigh up two excellent Championship forwards.

Both would improve Leeds’ squad, with Vydra’s deal seeming like it will cost a considerable amount of money.

Whether £10m on Vydra is good value, is up for debate, with Hernandez looking better value on a free.
