Aston Villa's season has been hit with the big blow of losing Tammy Abraham, with the Chelsea loanee reportedly off to Wolves on either a permanent or loan deal.

The striker, who has been in superb form for Villa, has left Dean Smith's men surprised and shocked as he has left the club with his heart set on a move to get Premier League football under his belt.

And now it has been revealed by reliable journalist Alan Nixon that there are some staggering figures behind the deal in terms of wages, with Nixon reporting that wages upwards of £55k per week were already being paid at Villa Park.

The sheer amount of money being talked about for a player playing Championship football is mind boggling, and while Abraham has been in superb form, it's the least Villa could have expected from someone who is taking up such a chunk of their budget.

Abraham will no doubt be hoping to take the form he has shown at Villa Park with him to Molineux, and he will be hoping to impress in the top flight and fight his way into the Chelsea XI for next season.

The Verdict

I just find this sort of money absurd, but it is what it is I guess in the modern game.

Abraham is a talent, and that talent costs the big bucks, something Villa were seemingly willing to do.

His move to Wolves is a bit of a betrayal really from Abraham, and if I was Smith or a Villa fan, i'd be far from impressed.
