Reliable journalist provides positive update on Leeds United ace

Liam Cooper is expected to be fit for Leeds United’s trip to Millwall, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post’s, Phil Hay.

Leeds’ supporters were left waiting for an update on Cooper’s injury, after the club’s captain was forced from the field with an injury midway through the second-half of last night’s victory over Birmingham City.

Thomas Christiansen’s side managed without Cooper last night, recording a 2-0 victory over Birmingham to move to the top of the Sky Bet Championship table, and then were handed further good news on the defender’s injury.

Reporters close to the club have confirmed that the defender’s injury is not serious and he should be fit for Leeds’ trip to London on Saturday, where Christiansen’s side will be looking to strengthen their hold on top spot against Millwall.

Cooper has so far been exceptional for Leeds in the Championship, featuring in a back-four that has conceded just two league goals this season.

The 26-year-old has also taken over the captaincy from the departed Liam Bridcutt, and is excelling in a leadership role at Elland Road.

The Verdict

Leeds’ supporters will be praying that Cooper is fully fit for the trip to Millwall, with Christiansen’s side set for another testing afternoon of Championship football.

Cooper has captained Leeds exceptionally well this season, and his performances have improved massively over the last 12-months, particularly alongside Pontus Jansson in defence.

Whilst Leeds have excelled in attack so far this season, their defensive performance has been the key to their success, with Cooper an absolutely vital cog in that area of the pitch.
