Reliable journalist provides Nottingham Forest transfer update

Published

on

According to reliable journalist, Alan Nixon (@reluctantnicko), Nottingham Forest are working hard to secure a deal for a goalkeeper early in the January transfer window.

No names are currently linked with a move to the City Ground via Nixon, but Forest’s desire to add an experienced stopper is known, after the Reds’ failed recruitment attempts in the summer window.

Adam Federici originally joined on-loan, but injury picked up on international duty meant the Australian goalkeeper never featured for Forest, who are reliant on the inexperienced, Jordan Smith.

Forest will look to add an experienced stopper to their squad early in the January transfer window, as Mark Warburton aims to bolster his side’s chance of a top-six finish in the Sky Bet Championship.

The Reds have suffered an inconsistent start to the season under Warburton, and following Boxing Day’s 3-0 defeat to Sheffield Wednesday, Forest were left in 13th, 10 points adrift of the Championship’s play-off zone.

Warburton’s side will be looking to bounce back following their Boxing Day hammering, when they welcome Sunderland to the City Ground tomorrow afternoon for their final game of 2017.

Forest will also be in action on the opening day of the transfer window, travelling to Elland Road to face Leeds United.

The Verdict

Forest are in desperate need of a goalkeeper as early as possible in January, and it is clear Warburton is prioritising the area.

Marcus Bettinelli has already been linked with a move in January, and the experienced Fulham stopper is exactly the kind of figure Forest need to be targeting in the New Year.

It has to be a priority for Warburton.
