Bolton Wanderers fans have been given an ominous update on the off-field problems surrounding their club by Marc Iles of the Bolton News.

He took to Twitter on Monday to inform fans that all major stakeholders currently involved in the club would be back in Britain by tomorrow as they prepare to force a sale through before their next court date.

“Looks as though all the major stakeholders at #BWFC will be back in the country tomorrow/Wednesday,” Iles wrote.

“EFL must be informed of administration by 5pm Thursday. Getting to deal or no deal time…”

Bolton were called into high court last Wednesday to face a potential winding up order that could have seen them enter administration or even liquidated.

But after proving that a sale was close, that would wipe out all of their outstanding debts, they were handed an extension until April 8.

In his weekly letter to supporters, shared on the club’s official website today, owner Ken Anderson told supporters that there would be no need to employ an administrator.

The verdict

It is so hard to know what to make of all of this.

Every update on Bolton seems to sound both good and bad at the same time. All the stakeholders being back in the country of course sounds like a deal is moving closer but it also sounds like they have not all agreed to the sale yet.

If I were a Trotters’ fan, I would not celebrate anything until there is official confirmation.
