Yorkshire Evening Post journalist, Phil Hay, has taken to his personal Twitter account to provide an injury update on Leeds United’s Chris Wood, claiming the club are hopeful the striker will feature at the weekend.

It was reported this morning that Wood had returned from international duty with New Zealand, having picked up an injury in their 2-0 victory over Fiji at the weekend.

The injury is only believed to be minor, but the 25-year old will now be assessed ahead of Leeds’ crucial clash with Reading on Saturday evening.

Hay tweeted: “Information Leeds have is that Wood has a minor knock. Hopeful of being fit for Saturday but will be assessed when he returns.”

Wood has been instrumental for the Whites this season, scoring 24 league goals and helping Garry Monk’s side to fourth in the Sky Bet Championship table.

In Leeds’ last league fixture, Wood scored twice to secure a 2-0 victory over title-chasing Brighton and Hove Albion, as Monk’s side showcased their promotion credentials.
