Steve Cotterill is seemingly hanging onto his job at Birmingham City by a thread, with key figures at St Andrew’s set to meet tomorrow to discuss the club’s managerial situation.

According to reliable journalist Alan Nixon, the ‘top people’ from St Andrew’s will meet to discuss things tomorrow.

It appears that a decision will be made on Cotterill’s future at St Andrew’s, with Birmingham currently facing the possibility of relegation in the Sky Bet Championship.

Cotterill replaced Harry Redknapp earlier this season, but has been unable to guide the Blues away from relegation trouble in the Championship, with Birmingham currently occupying a place in the relegation zone.

Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Barnsley at St Andrew’s was a fourth consecutive loss, which left the Blues third from bottom in the Championship table heading into the final 12 fixtures of the season.

The Blues are currently a point adrift of safety, and come up against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Saturday afternoon.

The Verdict

It is little surprise to hear that Birmingham are heading for key talks, with their form in the Championship atrocious.

Cotterill has failed to turn Birmingham into the outfit that many expected him to, with the Blues still far too easy to beat in the Championship.

With the Championship’s run-in on the horizon, now is the time for a change if Birmingham are to make one, as time is certainly running out.

Following Saturday’s clash with Forest, Birmingham face two promotion contenders and could be cut adrift by the time March’s international break comes around.
