The future of Plymouth midfielder, Ruben Lameiras remains up in the air heading into the summer, with Charlton Athletic one of the teams keeping tabs on him according to Plymouth Live.

Lameiras put in a number of impressive performance for Argyle, but was unable to stop them from being relegated back into League Two on the final day of the season.

This has prompted interest in his services with the transfer window approaching, and reliable journalist, Alan Nixon has revealed that Charlton’s interest in the Lameiras is genuine.

He is out of contract at the end of this month, and has been offered a new deal with Plymouth, although it remains to be seen as to whether he will be willing to play his football in League Two next season.

The 24-year-old has scored 18 goals in his two years with Argyle, and would be a good addition for a number of League One clubs heading into next year’s campaign.

Charlton will be playing in the Championship next season though, after they won promotion back into the second tier of English football after a dramatic win over Sunderland in the Play-Off final at Wembley.

Lee Bowyer will be preparing his side for life back in the Championship, and he’ll be keen to make new signings to strengthen his team.

This certainly won’t be the last we hear of interest in Lameiras, and with the transfer window opening in less than a month, an interesting few weeks are ahead for Plymouth and their talisman.

The Verdict:

He’s a player with real talent.

Lameiras has impressed me with Plymouth last season and I definitely think he’s capable of making the step up to the Championship next season.

Charlton need to be ambitious heading into next year’s campaign, and signing Lameiras would certainly show that as he could prove to be one of the signings of the season if he hits the ground running.
