Sheffield Wednesday will make late checks on Steven Fletcher and Jack Hunt ahead of this Saturday’s clash with Norwich City in the Sky Bet Championship, reports the Sheffield Star’s, Dom Howson.

Carlos Carvalhal’s side head to Norwich on Saturday evening, but the Sheffield Wednesday boss faces an anxious wait over key duo, Fletcher and Hunt, who are struggling with injuries.

Fletcher completed just 55 minutes of last weekend’s 2-2 draw with Hull City before he was replaced by Atdhe Nuhiu, with the Scottish striker now doubtful for this weekend’s trip to Carrow Road.

Wednesday will also make a late check on Hunt, who has not featured in the club’s last two fixtures, with the right-back completely left out of the matchday 18 against Hull at Hillsborough on Saturday.

Carvalhal’s side head to Norwich on Saturday evening on a seven-match unbeaten run, but still eight points adrift of the Championship’s top-six, with a sizeable gap now opening up between the Owls and the promotion contenders.

The Owls have drawn five of those seven fixtures unbeaten, including the last four following November’s international break.

The Verdict

Wednesday need a result this weekend, for Carvalhal and their supporters, with Hillsborough not particularly a positive place to be.

Carvalhal will hope he can call on Fletcher and Hunt on Saturday, with it absolutely vital that Wednesday have a full bill of health heading to Carrow Road.

Wednesday’s injuries have certainly hindered them this season, and Carvalhal will be hoping for some luck in the coming weeks.
