It has previously been reported by Goal that Leeds were one of the teams interested in signing Liverpool youngster Curtis Jones on loan for the remainder of this year's campaign.

Jones is currently with the Liverpool Under-23s, but has seemingly caught the eye with some impressive performances for Jurgen Klopp's senior side during cup competitions.

But reliable journalist Alan Nixon has insisted that a deal is unlikely to be concluded, with the journalist hinting that a lack of potential game time for Jones could prove to be a stumbling block between both parties involved.

A move to Elland Road could have been tempting for the Reds youngster, with Leeds well in the hunt to achieve a long-awaited promotion back into the Premier League.

Marcelo Bielsa's men are sat second in the Championship table, and are ten points clear of third-placed Preston North End as they head into this weekend's fixtures.

It's set to be an interesting January transfer window ahead, as the Leeds boss looks to make the necessary additions to his squad as they look to tighten their grip on a top-two finish.

Leeds are next in action when they take on Fulham at Craven Cottage this weekend, in a game which could prove to make or break their promotion bid in the Championship this term.

The Verdict:

It wouldn't surprise me if this was true.

For any Premier League club, they're going to want to send their young talents on loan, but only if they're going to be getting the game time they need to further their development in senior football.

Liverpool need to look at Eddie Nketiah for a classic example of a move that hasn't gone as expected, with the Arsenal loanee still yet to make a league start for Marcelo Bielsa's side.

I don't expect Jones to be joining Leeds in the New Year, as there are other teams who are more likely to offer him regular minutes.
