Football Journalist Alan Nixon has admitted on Twitter that Blackburn Rovers are no nearer to bringing in a new defender, with the Championship club currently scouring the market for new recruits.
The Ewood Park outfit are looking to maintain their push for the play-offs this term under Tony Mowbray and like many clubs up and down the country are seeking to bring in fresh blood if and when the opportunity arises this month.
High up on the agenda of the former Middlesbrough boss will no doubt be a new defender, with Rovers having been jilted by various injuries along the backline this term, including the likes of Daniel Ayala, Ryan Nyambe, Scott Wharton and Derrick Williams, who all remain out of action for the time being.
However it appears that the club are no closer to bringing in any new defensive additions, with Nixon tweeting the following when asked about potential activity earlier today:
Trying to find out who’s available. Might take the full month to get an answer. https://t.co/QsyES1iUuw

Did Blackburn Rovers sign each of these 14 players for more or less than £1 million?
The Lancashire outfit were busy during the summer transfer window, signing a total of nine players to add to their existing squad.
This should be seen as a necessity by Blackburn as there is a growing need for more depth to be added in an area of the pitch in which they have struggled heavily with players being sidelined.
The addition of a player that is capable of playing at both centre and full back would be ideal as it would help to plug the gaps that have been left by their long list of absentees.
With the clock continuing to tick down towards the deadline, the loan market could well be a viable option for Rovers who still have some spots available should they wish to go down that route once more after bringing in Harvey Elliott, Barry Douglas and Tom Trybull.
Mowbray is bound to have a few irons in the fire and the next few weeks could prove crucial towards determining whether the club will be genuine play-off contenders or also rans come the end of the campaign.
