Reliable football journalist Alan Nixon has taken to Twitter to provide an update on the takeover situation at Derby County, with it being said that announcement could be made within the next day or so.

The situation at Pride Park has been teetering on a knife edge ever since it was announced that a deal had been agreed between the club and Derventio Holdings (UK) Limited - with there being even more added uncertainty being put into the mix after Phillip Cocu was dismissed from his position as manager earlier this month.

It now appears that the end may well be in sight for everyone associated with the club, with Nixon making the following claim in a recent Twitter post:

McClaren? Clement? Who was the Derby County manager when each of these 15 Rams moments happened?

Meanwhile the Rams are in the process of preparing for tomorrow night's game against Coventry City as they seek to pick up their first victory under the interim stewardship of Wayne Rooney after they could only draw against fellow strugglers Wycombe on Saturday.

The Verdict

We could be set to see a remarkable few days at Pride Park if this prediction from Nixon comes true, with a new takeover surely putting the club that one step closer to deciding on which man is the one to take the club forward as their new manager.

This follows the recent appointment of Steve McClaren to the club's hierarchy, suggesting that he could well hold the key to who gets handed the managerial reins at the Midlands outfit.

Furthermore, the increased investment that will come with this expected takeover is sure to make the Rams a force to be reckoned with both in January and future transfer windows as they seek to end their Premier League exodus.

One things for sure, things are never dull at Derby County and this is going to be the latest installment in what has been a soap opera start to the season.
