Tony Pulis has said since his arrival at the Riverside Stadium as Middlesbrough manager that he will assess every member of his squad, out of respect to chairman Steve Gibson, before making any decisions on who to keep and who to sell.

The former West Brom, Crystal Palace and Stoke City manager knows that Gibson has spent big over a number of transfer windows so will not decimate the squad without proper consideration.

After Saturday's last minute defeat to Fulham, it would appear that Pulis has come to some decisions on his squad, as per journalist Alan Nixon on Twitter.

Nixon tweeted that midfield duo Adam Clayton and Adam Forshaw might well be among the names who leave the Riverside in this window but that their high wages might prove to be a stumbling block.

The Verdict

If I was Tony Pulis, there is not a chance that I would be selling Adam Clayton to anyone, let alone a potential promotion rival.

He is a Premier League standard midfielder who was frozen out under Garry Monk but deserves a starting place in the Boro midfield every day of the week.

Forshaw is definitely more disposable and I could see why he would be moved on to ease up the wage bill.
