Reliable journalist issues transfer update that may disappoint Wolves fans

According to reports in Italy, Wolves saw a bid for Portuguese international striker Andre Silva rejected by AC Milan yesterday, thought to be in the region of £34m.

However, journalist Tim Spiers has tweeted that there is no truth in the rumours and Wolves will not be spending such a large amount of money – Premier League money in all honesty – on Silva this January.

His senior sources at Wolves have confirmed that there has been no contact between the former Porto man, who has 11 Portugal goals, AC Milan and the Championship table-toppers.

The Verdict

While signing Silva would have undoubtedly been exciting for the Wolves fans, spending so much money after a busy summer might have risked infringing Financial Fair Play.

Signing Silva while 12 points clear might have been unnecessary and it also shows that the influence of Jorge Mendes only goes so far.

It will be interesting to see if the rumoured interest becomes more firm if and when Nuno Santo’s men make it to the Premier League.
