It is unlikely that Wolverhampton Wanderers will make a move to sign Nelson Oliveira or Jordan Rhodes this summer, according to the Express and Star’s, Tim Spiers.

Wolves have had a busy summer transfer window, with a number of new arrivals.

However, Nuno Espirito Santo is keen to add another striker to his multi-million-pound squad this summer, to add to Nouha Dicko and Leo Bonatini.

Spiers has ruled Wolves out of a move for Oliveira or Rhodes, claiming that they are too expensive, and unless they become available in the loan market, they are not likely to be arriving at Molineux between now and the end of the summer.

Another player who has been rumoured to be on Wolves’ radar is Sam Gallagher, who the Molineux outfit were keen to take on-loan form Southampton, after he impressed for Blackburn Rovers in the Sky Bet Championship last season.

Spiers has also admitted that a move for Gallagher is becoming increasingly unlikely, as Wolves monitor other targets.

Wolves have started the 2017/18 campaign magnificently, picking up six-points from their opening two fixtures.

Nuno’s side started with a 1-0 victory over Middlesbrough at Molineux, before backing that up with a 2-0 victory at Derby County over the weekend.

Wolves now travel to Hull City on Tuesday evening, before returning to Molineux to face Cardiff City on Saturday.

The Verdict

It never seemed a real possibility that either Oliveira or Rhodes would make the switch to Molineux this summer, but Wolves will be hoping to sign a striker of their calibre between now and September.

Wolves have had an extremely impressive summer, but their squad is still lacking in the striking department, despite Dicko and Bonatini starting the season well.

The addition of a high-profile striker over the next two weeks could make all the difference for Wolves, who look set to challenge for promotion this season.
