Leeds United are still working on bringing a new goalkeeper to Elland Road this summer.

With Felix Wiedwald departed, and Andy Lonergan out of favour, Leeds are searching for another body to come in an compete with Bailey Peacock-Farrell.

David Stockdale and Angus Gunn have been linked for some time now, whilst recent reports have credited Leeds with an interest in Jamal Blackman of Chelsea.

Phil Hay from the Yorkshire Evening Post has taken to Twitter to deliver an update, with the reliable journalist confirming that Leeds’ quest to sign a goalkeeper still needs work at this stage.

Talks with Birmingham over Stockdale are stalling due to wage demands, whilst Leeds’ pursuit of Gunn is on hold, with his parent-club, Man City, yet to make a decision on his future.

Hay, who does work closely with Leeds, confirmed that Blackman was definitely an option under consideration.

The towering goalkeeper spent last season on-loan with Sheffield United in the Championship, where he impressed, as the Blades challenged for play-off football and eventually finished 10th.

Leeds have returned to pre-season training in the last week, with Marcelo Bielsa taking charge of the Whites following his appointment.

The Verdict

Leeds have had a slow start to the summer, with the goalkeeping department certainly a key area that needs strengthening this summer.

A decision will have to be made soon, with Leeds clearly torn over a number of options.

In Peacock-Farrell they have one goalkeeper to compete for the No.1 jersey, but most at Elland Road would agree another is needed.
