It is no secret that Leeds United and Aston Villa are after a striker in the January transfer window and one target they have both been heavily linked with is Preston North End striker Jordan Hugill.

Unfortunately for fans of both clubs who may have been hoping that their clubs would boost their promotion bids with a swoop for the energetic striker, journalist Alan Nixon has issued an update that makes it appear that Hugill is not going anywhere.

Nixon tweeted that Alex Neil's Preston say that they will not sell the forward, who has ten goals and two assists to his name from 27 appearances across all competitions this season.

The Verdict

Hugill was beginning to emerge as the standout candidate to bolster Leeds' attacking ranks so if Preston are unwilling to sell then it might be a case of back to the drawing board for Thomas Christiansen.

Villa were always unlikely to be able to buy anyone in this window, without making major sales, and Leonardo Ulloa looks to be their main striking target. Any deal for the Leicester man might go right down to the wire.
