According to Yorkshire Evening Post journalist, Phil Hay, Leeds United’s Souleymane Doukara has extended his contract at Elland Road until the summer of 2018.

Doukara initially joined Leeds on a three-year contract in 2014, but Hay confirmed the striker signed a year extension in September 2015, which will now see him remain in Yorkshire until the end of next season.

The 25-year old has scored 13 goals since arriving at Elland Road, with opinion still divided on Doukara.

However, the powerful Frenchman has impressed for Garry Monk’s side in the Sky Bet Championship this season, scoring five goals and playing an important role in Leeds’ challenge for promotion.

Monk’s side are currently fourth in the Championship table, and with eight-fixtures of the season remaining, look a certainty for May’s Play-Offs.

The Whites travel to Reading this weekend for a clash with their Play-Off rivals, with Doukara expected to play a major part, as top scorer Chris Wood struggling with a minor injury.
